3 Tasks to Check Off as You Spring Forward

It’s time once again to turn our clocks forward as daylight saving time begins this weekend. In addition to adjusting the electronics around your house, consider adding these chores to your to do list. Making these part of your twice a year ritual of changing the clocks can keep your home and family healthier, happier and safer.

Check for Recalls

Product recalls happen all the time, and few people ever give them more than a passing thought. It isn’t until someone we love is injured that we take recalls seriously. Auto recalls in particular should be checked every few months to ensure safe travels. Do so by entering your car’s VIN on the NHTSA website. As they like to say, safe cars save lives!

Change Your Batteries

Be honest: when was the last time you changed the batteries in your smoke detector? If it’s been awhile, chances are good you also haven’t changed the batteries in your carbon monoxide detector lately, either. Squeaky wheels get the grease, and when our detectors work as intended, they rarely make a sound. Still, just because they are silent doesn’t mean they aren’t using up batteries. Given how dangerous the silent killer of carbon monoxide can be, it makes sense to add this chore to your list.

Replace Wiper Blades

You don’t realize you need to change your windshield wiper blades until you need them most, and with April showers ahead of us, there will be lots of days where they’ll be necessary. Get ahead of the storm and replace wiper blades before you need them.
