Two Hospitalized After Route 58 Crash
Anyone who has ever traveled on Route 58 can tell you what a dangerous road it is. A gateway towards the western part of the Old Dominion, as well as to central North Carolina, route 58 sees traffic from both tractor trailers and passenger vehicles. The landscape can be beautiful but also dangerous, as the speeds change without much warning. There’s also constant road work in the area, making traffic patterns unpredictable and always changing.
An accident earlier this week on Route 58 in Chesapeake is just one of countless incidents that have happened along the road. Police say they received word about a two-vehicle collision just before 1:00 PM the afternoon of August 8, 2017. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found two people with injuries. The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The accident is still under investigation, but at this point, no one has been charged in relation to the crash.
We send our best wishes out for speedy, complete recoveries for both people injured in the collision.
Accidents like this one happen all the time of Route 58, which is why we encourage drivers who frequent that road to pay extra close attention to the road conditions there. Simple things like following the posted speed limit, increasing your following distance from the vehicles in front of you and slowing for work zones can help tremendously when avoiding accidents. Simply taking ones time and driving defensively can prevent a majority of accidents we see on Route 58.
