Student Pedestrian Injured in Newport News Crash

A Newport News woman is facing charges following a collision with a pedestrian this week. The December 5, 2016 accident occurred at the intersection of 48th St and Madison Avenue around 7:40 AM. Police say the driver of a Nissan Versa failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection. The car collided with a vehicle heading west on 48th St. After that collision, the Nissan struck a student waiting at a bus stop. The juvenile was injured in the wreck and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Nissan fled the scene of the accident. They were later located by police. Charges pending against the driver include driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and leaving the scene of the accident. As the investigation into the wreck continues, there may be more charges filed against the driver.

The extent of the student’s injuries were not mentioned in the press following the accident. We encourage the victim to reach out to our team. We can help them deal with the insurance company, the police and the drivers involved in the crash. The days following an accident can be scary, but with the help of a Virginia personal injury attorney, they don’t have to be.
