Passenger Injured, Driver Charged in Single-Vehicle Virginia Beach Accident

istock_000007435695xsmallA single-vehicle accident has injured two people in Virginia Beach. That’s the word from Virginia Beach police officers who investigated the late night crash. They say the wreck occurred around 11:00 PM the night of October 1, 2017. The investigation is still being completed, so not much information has been released thus far. What we do know is that a car driving on Potters Road in Virginia Beach crashed around 11 PM and that the driver was charged with a DUI and failure to maintain their lane. Both people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries. It’s not clear what the car crashed into to cause the wreck.

Accidents like this one highlight the importance of choosing a responsible designated driver. We all know how dangerous it is to drive drunk, but choosing to ride in the car with a drunk driver can be just as risky. Had the passenger arranged for a sober driver to pick them up at the end of their night, or to get an Uber or Lyft home instead, they might not have been involved in an accident like this one.

We send our best wishes to both victims and hope they recover quickly. The passenger may want to speak with a Virginia car accident lawyer to explore their legal options.

Always make a plan for getting home safely before you start drinking. That way, you can relax and have a good time without worrying about being involved in an accident on your way home!
