Graco Recalls Pack 'N Play Sleeper

Graco is recalling 51,000 infant inclined sleepers due to infant deaths linked to other similar products. The Consumer Product Safety Administration says infant inclined sleepers can lead to suffocation in babies. The federal government has proposed banning these kinds of products, which have been linked to more than 90 deaths.

Included in the Recall

This recall includes inclined sleepers that are sold as accessories or as devices that stand on their own. Models impacted by the recall include the Pack ‘n Play Day 2 Dream Playard with Bedside Sleeper, Graco Pack ‘n Play Nuzzle Nest Playard, Pack ‘n Play Everest Playard and the Pack ‘n Play Rock ‘n Grow Playard. If you own any Graco products, check to see if the model has been included in the recall. If it has, stop use immediately and contact Graco for a refund.

The Danger of Inclined Sleepers

The Graco recall is number 11 in a long list of products yanked from shelves over suffocation concerns. More than five million products are included in these recalls, marking a significant disruption in the market. It’s Graco’s second recall, following a January 2020 recall of their Little Lounger Rocking Seat. Companies are eager to distance themselves from inclined sleeper devices after more and more research emerges on safe infant sleep.

Studies show that inclining babies between 10 and 30 degrees for sleep – as so many inclined infant sleepers do – is actually incredibly unsafe. Such designs increase the risk of airway compression and suffocation. If you still have inclined infant sleepers in your home, your baby could be at risk.
