Woman hit by car and killed on I-64 near Northampton Blvd, driver charged

A woman was killed yesterday after being struck by a vehicle on I-64 near Northampton Blvd. 

Charisse Turner was driving westbound on I-64 when she pulled off to the right shoulder because of a flat tire. Another driver then pulled over to offer assistance, and after speaking with him she began walking back towards her vehicle. As she was walking another driver ran off the side of the road and hit her. 

According to The Virginian-Pilot, Charisse Turner was taken to Sentara Norfolk General where she later died from her injuries.

Jonathan Heuneman, the driver of the vehicle that hit her, is  being charged with reckless driving.
