Lance Brewer, 13 years old, was killed Sunday when a Sea Tow vessel, and the 19 foot fishing boat he and his father were in collided. The tow boat driver, Wayne Espinosa, and the boy’s father, Phillip Brewer, suffered minor injuries. According to the Virginian Pilot, they were all taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center, where the boy was pronounced dead.

The accident happened in Newport News near the James River Bridge. 

According to WVEC, Several Coast Guard boat crews, a helicopter aircrew, other authorities, and a Good Samaritan responded to the accident.

An investigation is still underway. If Wayne Espinosa is found to be at fault he could face fines, suspension or revocation of his license.  If Phillip Brewer is found to be at fault he could face a fine.
