Waynesboro Bicyclist in Critical Condition Following Collision with Car
A 22-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition following an accident in Waynesboro last week. The July 9, 2017 wreck occurred when the cyclist collided with a vehicle at the intersection of B Street and Ivanhoe Avenue. The cyclist was hospitalized due to the injuries he sustained. The driver was not hurt. Locals say the cyclist’s shoe was found across the street and that the hood of the car was seriously crumpled, indicating a particularly rough collision.
The accident is still under investigation, so there’s no word on exactly who is to blame for the collision. Locals in the area say that cars frequently travel at high speeds, ignoring posted limits and zooming in and out of the area. Vehicles and trees in the area often fall victim to such speeds, but the cyclist is the latest and most tragic example of the problem in the area.
The accident reconstruction team was said to be hard at work after the incident occurred. The team spray painted around the vehicles to try and determine exactly what led to the wreck. We can only hope that the investigation leads to some justice for the injured cyclist.
We send the cyclist our best wishes for a full recovery in the hospital. He had to be airlifted to the University of Virginia hospital for treatment. His friends and family and likely extremely worried about his recovery. We encourage the cyclist and his loved ones to reach out to our firm to consider their legal options moving forward.
