Woman, Children Injured in VA Beach Bike Accident
A woman and three children are recuperating after a bicycle accident in Virginia Beach this week. Police say the September 27, 2017 crash occurred on Doctor Drive around 5:00 PM. Reports indicate that the woman was riding her bicycle with three kids sitting in a trailer attached to the bike. The woman and children were struck by a car that turned onto Doctor Drive and lost control.
The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. One child suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other two sustained non-life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation but police say speed may have contributed to the crash. The driver and passenger in the car are cooperating with the investigators. No charges have been filed so far.
We send our best wishes out to the woman and the three children recovering from their injuries. We can only hope that they will all make full recoveries. Even after the wounds heal, though, the victims will likely need help processing this difficult experience. With an accident as traumatic as this one, the psychological scarring can last a lifetime. Therapy can help the victims cope.
Talking with a Virginia bicycle accident lawyer can also help aid the healing process. A confidential consultation can clarify a victim’s rights and options moving forward. While it’s tempting to take the first settlement an insurance company offers after an accident like this one, an attorney can help negotiate a better sum that comprehensively covers all the financial damage incurred by the at-fault driver.
