Buchanon Co. Accident Leaves 2 Dead, 2 Injured
Two people were killed over the weekend in a crash police say they are still investigating. Reports indicate that the Buchanon County crash occurred August 6, 2017 on Route 460. A Toyota Rav 4 crossed the center line and struck a Honda Element in a head-on collision. The Toyota caught fire after the crash.
Both drivers involved in the accident were seriously injured, and tragically, passengers in both vehicles were killed. Not much information has been given about the cause of the crash, as it remains under investigation.
We send our condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims killed in this awful crash. Car accidents are always shocking, but for two passengers to lose their lives in this way is especially tragic. We’re also sending out our best wishes to the victims still recovering in the hospital.
When cars collide head-on at high speeds, the results are nearly always deadly. Vehicles are built to sustain damage to the rear and sides, but there’s not much beyond seat belts and air bags to protect passengers from head-on crashes. Even at low speeds, cars that collide head-on are often in much worse shape than cars that side swipe one another.
Unfortunately, many head-on collisions like this occur because of a drowsy, distracted or drunk driver. Though no official reason has been given for this particular crash, we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the at-fault driver fell asleep at the wheel or was on their phone at the time of the accident.
