Friday afternoon, three teens were killed in a car accident on Salem Road. Officers investigating the scene said that speed was a factor, and caused the driver to lose control of the Volkswagen and veer into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was struck by a mini-van, whose driver was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen was 18 year old Matthew Kirkbride, and the passengers, Joseph Scott Jenkins, and Adam Sherman, both 17 years old. All three teens were Seniors of Green Run High School and were on there way home from technical and career center. They were all wearing seat belts, but the severity of the crash, killed them on impact.
Today will be the first day back to school since the crash, and administrators at Green Run High School are taking all necessary steps to help students cope with this loss.
