Monday, August 8, police found the body of Jeffery Lee Hooks near a median at the 9200 block of Warwick Boulevard in Newport News. Police believed that his death was the result of a hit and run.
Today James Kenneth Wright was arrested and charged with driving while suspended- third offense, and felony
hit and run resulting in a death according to a Wavy.com article.
Police are saying that the 2000 Buick Ultra was found less than a mile away abandoned. Later they discovered that the Buick was reported stolen 20 minutes after police responded to the call about Mr. Hooks.
WTKR reported that the Mr. Wright turned
himself into police, admitting that he was the driver of the vehicle who hit Mr. Hooks and drove off.
Jeffery Lee Hooks lived in Connecticut and was in the area visiting family.
