Harrisonburg, VA man killed in NC accident

A fatal accident occurred in Calypso, NC on Wednesday (July 21, 2010), when a minivan pulled in front of a tractor-trailer, according to WRAL.

WHSV reports that the driver of the minivan, John Snipes of Harrisonburg, VA, was traveling through the town of Calypso when he blew through a stop sign and then did not yield at a traffic light, right before colliding with the hog truck. The minivan was carrying four adults, and three children.

One of the passengers, his son-in-law Dennis Knupp, was killed.  Mr. Knupp's wife is in critical condition at WakeMed in Raleigh, and the remaining passengers in the minivan were taken to nearby hospitals.

There are currently no charges expected to be filed against the truck driver, however charges against Snipe are still pending.
