Fatal Car Accident in Rockbridge County Results in DUI Arrest

WSLS10 reports that the Rockbridge County crash injured nine students and claimed the life of one. The crash occurred on Turkey Hill Road and resulted in some of the victims being taken to Carillon Stonewall Jackson Hospital, with three students subsequently taken to the UVA Medical Center and Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The at-fault driver was arrested by police and charged with driving while under the influence.

Car accidents and wrecks, especially those that result in the death of an innocent victim, are always terrible events—and the event is made all the more awful when it turns out that the at-fault driver was driving while intoxicated on alcohol or drugs. There is no excuse for driving in such a state; drunk drivers always have the option of calling a friend or a cab, or simply walking home. My sincerest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim; I have seen too many families devastated by such wrecks.
