What are the causes of Traumatic Brain Injuries?

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the leading causes of traumatic brain injuries are:

  • Falls (35.2%)
    • falls cause more than half (50.2%) of traumatic brain injuries among children ages 0-14
    • falls cause about 60.7% of traumatic brain injuries among senior citizens
  • Motor vehicle traffice (17.3%)
    • brain injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents are the largest percentage of traumatic brain injury deaths
  • Struck by/against events (16.5%)
