Bus Driver Charged in Fatal Dinwiddie I-85 Accident that Killed 3

A bus driver is being charged for the fatal three vehicle accident which occurred last Friday on I-85 near Dinwiddie County.  According to the Progress-Index, Malverse Vanloan of Greensboro, N.C., faces reckless driving charges.

According to the police investigation, the driver of the log truck and the Toyota Tundra were lowering their speeds for a work zone near Dabney Mill Road overpass. The driver of the Charter bus, carrying 49 North Caroline A&T State University students, struck the Toyota pushing it into the rear of the log truck. 

The driver of the Toyota and two passengers died at the scene. The fourth passenger of the Toyota was wedged under the logging truck and flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. 

Four people from the charter bus and the driver of the logging truck were all checked out on the scene, but did not appear to be injured.
