The PilotOnline reports that Allied Terminals has been ordered by the city of Chesapeake to drain a large fertilizer tank which was discovered to have welding defects.
Last month Chesapeake Officials were forced to seek federal aid in cleaning up the fertilizer spill that happened when one of the tanks collapsed. Two workers were injured and the 2 millions gallons of fertilizer was spilled onto roads and scarily close to nearby homes. The cause of the collapse was later found to be welding defects.
The tank ordered to be drained, which also holds 2 million gallons of liquid fertilizer, was found to have had at least 6 structural problems.
