Chesapeake Fertilizer Spill

Wednesday, November 12, around 3:20pm, a storage tank at Allied Terminals collapsed.  Liquid ammonium nitrate was released onto the site as well as nearby roads. Chesapeake officials were forced to seek federal aid for clean up, and community safety.

The Environmental Protection Agency, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Coast Guard, and Chesapeake Fire Department all reported to the scene.
