ATV on Highway in Accomack resulted in fatal accident

Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Larry Lee Ricketts II of Hacksneck was driving down Route 126 when he approached an ATV traveling on the highway.  Ricketts then swerved to avoid hitting the ATV, ran off the road, and struck a tree.  Ricketts died at the scene.

The passenger in the vehicle, Andrew Nerthery, was taked to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is in good condition.

The driver of the ATV, Robert Brownlie, has been charged with driving an ATV on the highway, with no taillights, and without a helmet.
